Tamási is a small town, 38 km far from Lake Balaton (Siófok), 50 km far from the capital of Tolna County (Szekszárd), 80 km far from the European Capital of Culture (Pécs) and 140 km far from the capital of Hungary (Budapest). Spa and open-air bath of Tamási is one of the most beautiful spas of Hungary. The excellent natural environment, the health-providing quality of the water and the superb surrounding has made Tamási a well-known spa. The thermal water is 52 Celsius warm and very healthy. The special health-improving quality of the water is due to its high natrium, calcium and potassium concentration. The 7 hectare wood-land of the bath is open all year round, where open-air pools, stretched-surfaced water-pools, separate children's pool are located. In the territory of the bath parking places, restaurants and other shops can be found to satisfy all the expectations. 6 km long bicycle path connects Tamási and a small Swabian village (Pári) and crosses the wonderful landscape. The 2,6 m wide bicycle path is used by both local residents and tourists. They go either by bicycle, or roller-skates, or use it for walking or running. Most renowned among the natural beauties of the area is the Gyulaj Forest wild reservation. On its territory of 7.800 hectares (oak and elm varieties), lives one of the world-wide largest populations of fallow deer. As long as water-birds (ferruginous duck, Nyroca n.nyroca, herons Egretta sp.) and predatory birds (hawks, Accipiter sp., bald eagle, Heliaeetus leucocephalus) are concerned, the Pacsmag lake area (Ramsari) is a natural reservation of national importance and an internationally known bird habitat. Bird watching camps area organised here, guided by specialised ornithologists. There is a look-out tower on the top of the "Varhegy"-Hill next to the thermal bath, from where you have a nice view to Tamási and its surroundings as well as to wineyards and winecellars.
